Dorsal is a family run company near Venice in northern Italy employing forty people. Sleep Well and Dorsal work closely together to supply our unique line of pillows, mattresses and bases tailored to New Zealand's specific needs.
Since 1932 Dorsal have embraced a whole sleep system approach to entire bedding environment from slatted bases, natural foam mattresses and pillows right through to the fabrics and materials used in their quilting.

Dorsal have been early adopters of technology from Italy, Germany, France and the Netherlands and remain cutting edge with their progressive and successful designs. In fact Dorsal were the first Italian company to adopt the concept of a slatted bed base and introduce the culture to Italy and other parts of Europe.
Sourcing our bases, mattresses and pillows from Italy has several advantages. One such advantage is that Dorsal export their range to over twenty different countries world-wide and therefore have an extensive range of products to meet the world market. Being a smaller company, they are well positioned to adapt their products to suit each market's needs such as ours in New Zealand.
Another advantage is that Italy lies at a similar latitude north as New Zealand does south. Dorsal have a range of bed systems that have been designed for a climate that is similar yet more extreme than ours, with hotter summers and colder winters and a higher levels of humidity. They know how to make beds that are comfortable all year round.
Dorsal works closely with the Association of Italian Physiotherapists in the designing and construction of all their bed bases, mattresses and pillows. You can rest easy - your sleep is in good hands.
